Biggar Hat Store is located on the Historic Town Square in Decatur, Texas, co-founded by Jeff Biggars and Mike Garland. Jeff Biggars brings extensive hat-making experience: he started working in a Western shop, later managed a custom hat shop in the Fort Worth Stockyards, then spent twelve years at American Hat Company where he was the lead for manufacturing. After that, he and his father-in-law established their own custom hat shop. The store emphasizes old-world craftsmanship, using traditional techniques and equipment with many steps still done by hand. While they offer production straw hats at accessible prices, their custom felt hats can range from $200 to $2,500, positioning them firmly in the custom/artisan market.

Craftsmanship

Biggar Hats focuses on efficient production while maintaining acceptable quality standards. Their straw weaving is consistent, with proper finishing on brim edges and crown shaping. While not hand-finished to premium standards, the construction is honest for the price point. The variety in their model lineup—from the Haden to the Hollywood series—shows attention to different style preferences within their market segment.
